Monterey Bay Offshore Pipeline ROV Inspection
Lally LLC was contracted by an oceanographic services firm to assist with an inspection of 1.5-mile-long ocean outfall pipeline in Monterey Bay, California.
To safely fulfil Owner requirements, Lally LLC mobilized one of its remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and deployed it from the client’s research vessel to inspect for exposed sections of pipeline, debris or other anomalies along the offshore pipeline.
Lally engineer-diver personnel piloted the ROV to follow the rock covered pipe (RCP) in depths to 70 ft. Despite encountering strong bottom currents, the campaign was successful in locating, navigating and recording inspection video along the more dangerous outer sections of the outfall. Acquired inspection footage was post-processed and submitted to the client along with a survey report.
